Profile

Ellie has just turned 15, and has ridden horses since as far back as she can remember, but started to take it seriously at the age of 7. Ellie is a capable, and extremely determined rider, who is hoping to go Novice next year, with a horse she has recently taken on. She has 2 very talented horses who she is hoping can take her to high level of competition.

When she leaves school in a year and a half's time, Ellie would like to do a year at college (most probably Hartpury) so she can get her teaching exams. She would then like to go travelling around the UK for a year to different event yards to gain experience before setting up her own yard using the knowledge picked up along the way. Ellie would love to have a successful string of horses on her own yard, and would also like to teach and help out young up and coming riders. Ellie's personal aims are to be on British teams at Young Rider and Senior level, and her ultimate dream would be to ride at the Olympics and her local 4*, Badminton!

If you would like to help Ellie along the way, please go to the contact page to get in touch.

What is it you love so much about eventing?
"I just love how tough it is. There are so many elements that can go wrong, so when it all comes together, it gives you such a buzz!"

Which is your least favourite phase?
"I don't have one! I love them all, and if eventing wasn't a sport I would defiantly do each phase individually."

Which is your favourite horse?
"Rocky, I have had him 3yrs now and he has taught me so much I cant thank him enough. I hope there are still many successful years to come!"

Who has influenced your equestrian career the most so far?
"Probably Robin Dumas. For my 12th birthday I went there for a lesson, and from there onwards he helped me so much. I fitted working there around school for a good few months, and whilst I was there, I fell in love with Rocky. Robin suggested the horse I had then wasn't quite right, so we sold her, and a few months later, my step dad brought Rocky! I was so over the moon, and cant thank Robin enough for selling me such a well produced horse with such a lovely temperament."

Who couldn't you event without?
"Mum... she has been the one who has been there throughout, scraping together entry fees and helping me out on the yard on those wet windy days! Very grateful!"

What would you do if you weren't eventing?
"I would probably show jump."

Favourite event rider?
"Austin O'Connor or Oli Townend."

Favourite local event?
"Bricky or Longleat."
